Singer-songwriter John Denver touched millions of people and reached superstar status by his folk-inspired pop hits many of them based in Colorado. Born Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. in Roswell New Mexico he fell in the love of Colorado and eventually settled in Aspen. Denver's popular songs about his new home state drew many tourists to Colorado. G. Brown of the Colorado Music Hall of Fame states it is true that John Denver is unlike any other performer who has the recognizable image of Colorado. Denver was the initial Hall of Fame inductee in 2011. Denver is today the international face of Colorado. In my travels I've had the pleasure of meeting people from New Zealand or the other side. When you tell people you're from Colorado the first words they say are"Oh John Denver. Brown stated. Denver's first Top 10 hit as a solo artist after a short period of performing with small folk music groups included Take Me Home Country Roads co-written with Bill Danoff. Danoff originally wrote it with Johnny Cash's music in mind, but Denver realized from the first moment he listened to the earlier versions that it would be a big popular. Following the performance in Washington D.C. to a massive crowd, Denver released the song a couple of days from now.
